Properly Diagnosis Patients with ADHD Symptoms

Accurately diagnosing patients with ADHD is one of the most important things we do on a daily basis at the Rochester Center. Approximately 40% of our patients have ADHD alone. The majority of patients have other conditions that accompany their ADHD; these include anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, and learning disabilities.

We try and do a good job at distinguishing each one of these conditions so that appropriate treatment can be placed. In the patients where ADHD is unclear several other considerations need to be made. ADHD needs to be distinguished from autism, hypothyroidism, iron deficiency and heavy metal poisoning. A nice summary of medical conditions that share symptoms with ADD and ADHD can be found at the following blog. As always, we are happy to discuss this with you when we meet next.
