Upon coming to RCBM, many individuals inquire specifically about a possible diagnosis of ADHD. Given the frequency of these inquiries, the Rochester Center for Behavioral Medicine offers a half-day, comprehensive evaluation for ADHD and related conditions.
Staffed by RCBM clinicians, the Fast Track is specially designed for individuals who live out of town or have other time constraints. Individuals are interviewed by our clinicians and a determination is made of appropriate screening and computer aided testing. The psychological assessment is undertaken that morning.
Results of the testing are processed and forwarded to one of the RCBM physicians. The physician then meets with the patient and, utilizing all of the data obtained, a diagnosis is carefully considered and then made.
We will try to determine whether ADHD is present or not and, if so, specify the subtype. We are especially careful about identifying comorbid conditions such as: learning disorders, anxiety, mood and personality disorders. From here, treatment plans, including medications, are proposed.

Psychoeducational resources including descriptive videos and patient literature are shown or given. Finally, a follow-up treatment plan is developed.
The Fast Track program works well for most patients. Occasionally, RCBM physicians will suggest further testing which will require a second day of testing to be scheduled, either with a member of our staff or a clinic in your hometown. This is particularly true if a learning disorder is considered. Individuals in the Fast Track program generally leave their first appointment with a diagnosis, treatment plan and hopefully a better understanding of their condition.
The advantage is that the Fast Track process requires fewer visits than for patients evaluated in the conventional manner.
