Melissa Oleshansky, PhD, LP, RYT

Melissa Oleshansky, PhD, RYT, known as Dr. O, is a licensed clinical health psychologist, adjunct psychology professor, and registered hatha yoga teacher who brings more than 25 years of experience to her work at RCBM, where she serves as a clinical health psychologist, clinical supervisor, and Director of Program Development. Blending innovation with deep clinical wisdom, she is known for her creativity, intellectual clarity, and compassionate presence. She works with thoughtful, high-functioning women who want more than symptom relief. They seek meaningful, evidence-based care that supports optimal mental and physical well-being. Her approach integrates scientific rigor with genuine warmth, helping women cultivate steadiness, insight, and renewed direction during demanding and transformative seasons of life.

Dr. O is a stress management specialist with particular expertise in women’s mental and physical health. She supports women navigating anxiety, burnout, life transitions, aging, career changes, relationship challenges, and the psychological impact of medical or hormonal shifts. Her work emphasizes sustainable strategies for regulating the stress response, strengthening emotional resilience, and restoring clarity and confidence.

Grounded in clinical health psychology, her therapeutic approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and humanistic psychology principles, along with mindfulness-based interventions, lifestyle-informed care, and yoga-informed practices. She helps patients understand the dynamic relationship between the brain and body, teaching skills that calm physiological arousal, reduce rumination, and increase psychological flexibility. In addition to psychotherapy, she thoughtfully coaches women in applying these tools to daily life so that growth continues beyond the therapy hour. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, she helps patients develop a healthier relationship with anxiety so they can move forward with courage, meaning, and purpose.

At RCBM, Dr. O collaborates closely with medication providers, registered dietitians, and interdisciplinary colleagues to deliver integrative, whole-person care. In her leadership role, she supervises clinicians and designs innovative, evidence-based programs that integrate psychological science and emerging research to advance high-quality clinical practice.

Dr. O holds a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology, a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, and a master’s degree in Educational Psychology, along with formal training in yoga teaching and philosophy. She is also a PsyPact member, which authorizes her to provide interjurisdictional telepsychology services across participating states.

She believes that anxiety, while uncomfortable, can become a catalyst for growth when approached with the right tools. Through structured skill building, mindful awareness, and values-guided action, she helps women cope effectively with stress and anxiety so they can live fulfilling, authentic lives aligned with what matters most to them.
