What insurance plans do we accept at RCBM? NEW NEWS ABOUT THE BLUES (BCBS)!
Not all RCBM clinicians participate with the same insurance companies. If you have any questions about whether an RCBM clinician is on a specific insurance panel, please contact our front office, as we are happy to help in any way we can. You may also contact our billers, Brenda or Maggie, at: (248) 851-0526.
Please be aware, however, that we cannot speak for insurance companies or predict their behavior, nor are we responsible for their decisions. For this reason, it is the responsibility of the patient to call their insurance company before they come in for their first visit. During this phone call, the patient should verify their outpatient mental health benefits as well as whether or not their specific provider is in-network for their insurance plan.
Most RCBM clinicians participate with:
Some RCBM clinicians participate with:
- Cigna
- CorpHealth
- Medicare
- TriCare
- Value Options (Teamsters, Beaumont, Connecticut General)
- Champva (Please contact our biller to verify)
At RCBM, we do NOT participate with:
What about Blue Cross/Blue Shield?
We often entertain questions about the Rochester Center for Behavioral Medicine’s participation in Blue Cross. Rules have recently changed so please read on.
Effective immediately, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has indicated that, under appropriate supervision (as is provided at RCBM), mental health providers with a master’s degree can be reimbursed for psychotherapy services rendered. This is in contrast to previous years where only MD’s, PhD’s, and some master’s level nurse practitioners were allowed to participate with Blue Cross plans.
This is great news for our patients, as it allows far more of our clinicians to participate in Blue Cross Blue Shield. We also like to make the distinction between participating and non-participating clinicians. Most of our clinicians are participating Blue Cross providers. This means that they will accept payment as determined by the Blue Cross Blue Shield fee schedule. If there is a co-payment or deductible, this will still apply.
Dr. Young is the only non-participating member of BCBS. This means that BC patients who see Dr. Young are asked to pay the session fee at the time of service. If you wish, we are happy to courtesy bill. This means that our billing department, at no charge to the patient, will bill Blue Cross and Blue Cross can send reimbursement directly back to the patient. Please note that RCBM cannot guarantee if and how much of the fee will be reimbursed. Also note that the patient is responsible for contacting Blue Cross to find out the details of their outpatient mental health benefits.
Our biller, Brenda, can offer more details on this (bbrendaw@gmail.com)
We hope this updates you on our policies regarding Blue Cross Blue Shield.
