Alicia Basin, MA, LPC
Alicia is a licensed professional counselor who has worked with clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, self esteem difficulties, relationship issues, and trauma. She has particular experience in assisting patients who struggle with with LGBTQ issues, substance abuse issues, and eating disorders.
Alicia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Oakland University. She has particular experience working with adults and teens (13+) to assist them in meeting their therapeutic goals. She has worked in hospital settings, residential care settings, and as part of a community treatment team. She is experienced in providing care in a range of environments.
Her counseling style is rooted in a humanistic approach, which means that every session is customized to meet the individual patient's needs. Sessions include elements of motivational interviewing, with a focus on helping clients assess their goals and implement a plan of action to achieve their goals. She also incorporates principals of cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to provide a tailored therapy plan that directly addresses her patients' most pressing symptoms.
