Elizabeth Thompson, NP

Lizzy Thompson is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Lizzy received her Master’s degree from Frontier Nursing University, her Bachelor’s degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing, and began her nursing career with an Associate’s degree from Oakland Community College. After spending nearly ten years caring for patients in the hospital, Lizzy returned to OCC as an instructor and enjoyed helping new nurses learn to deliver compassionate care while also caring for themselves. Lizzy found her way to psychiatry when the Covid-19 pandemic shed light on the increasing need for competent, compassionate mental health care. She has experience in emergency psychiatric care, Spravato therapy for treatment-resistant depression, ADHD coaching, and telehealth. Lizzy is also a certified holistic nurse, and is interested in the interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit. She strives to treat the whole person, not just the diagnosis. Lizzy’s therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, active listening, and collaboration. She partners with patients to identify their areas of struggle and opportunities for growth. Lizzy particularly loves working with neurodivergent patients and is excited to share strategies for living with ADHD and/or autism in a world that wasn’t designed for you. She is also interested in helping those with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorder.
