Mandated Reporters

Mandated reporters are individuals who are required by law to report suspicion of abuse, neglect and/or exploitation of children and vulnerable adults.


A verbal report must be made immediately to Child Protective Services (CPS) or Adult Protective Services (APS) when there is suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation. A written report must be made within72 hours. If a mandated reporter fails to report they are subject to civil and criminal liability.

Mandated reports include but are not limited to the following:  

·         School administrators and teachers

·         Physicians

·         Nurses

·         Counselors

·         Social Workers

·         Law enforcement officers

·         Adult and Child Care center Providers

Anyone, including a child, who suspects abuse or neglect and/or exploitation of a child or vulnerable adult, can make a report by calling 855-444-3911.
