Amy Karwowski, LMSW is a clinical therapist who completed her education at Wayne State University and received her Bachelor's degree and Master’s degree in Social Work. For the past 10 years, Amy has worked in a community mental health setting providing clients with tools to cope and resources to improve their quality of life, along with support to guide them on their journey to healing, growth and wellness. Amy has worked with individuals of many walks of life - from young people learning how to navigate into adulthood to seasoned individuals adjusting to their later years of life. Amy considers herself to be an ally of diverse populations and cultures. Amy’s passion is to be with individuals during their more difficult experiences and celebrate them into their triumphs. Amy is most confident and competent working with individuals challenged by various levels of depression, anxiety, grief/loss, anger, self-esteem concerns, eating disorders and the impacts of trauma. Amy uses the therapeutic interventions of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapy. Amy emphasizes a strengths perspective approach to guide individuals toward insight and empowerment. Amy will invite you into a judgement free, safe and compassionate space ("come as you are"). In this safe environment, you will be encouraged to speak your truth, share your story, find effective ways to learn, grow and gain an understanding of yourself along with the world around you. Amy is excited to meet with you and begin a journey into self-discovery.
